KLIA -Kuala lumpur international airport... back to school

huerm.. after a "long" holiday, today, i went back to jakarta to continue my unfinish job...which is study... kuala lumpur - jakarta - 2hours trip.. boarding at 4pm, departured at 4.40pm and arrived at jakarta at 5.20pm (local time).. in this post, i will show some shots i took while waiting for the flight in KLIA.... ciou~ :)
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is one of Asia's major aviation hubs and is a destination in itself. It is located at the top of the southern corridor of Peninsular Malaysia, bordering the states of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. It is situated in the Sepang district, approximately 50 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.KLIA is a unique airport because it has within its boundaries all that is needed for business, entertainment and relaxation. The airport is part and parcel of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) where placement of high technology industries are being actively pursued.

The Main Terminal Building area was designed using the concept of 'Airport in the forest, forest in the airport', in which it is surrounded by green space. This was done with the co-operation of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia. An entire section of rain forest was transplanted from the jungle and placed in the Satellite Building. For car racing enthusiasts, a Formula One racetrack is located near the airport and the Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix is scheduled in March every year. The track also caters for an array of other activities throughtout the year, including motorcycle and rally racing.

KLIA's commitment to promote environment responsibility for all local and foreign travellers was recognised by Green Globe, making it the first and only airport in the world to receive Green Globe 21 certificate in year 2004 and onwards.KLIA was thrice voted as the World's Best Airport (15-25 million passengers per annum) in the 2005 AETRA awards, 2006 ACI-ASQ awards and 2007 ACI-ASQ awards

Monumen Nasional (MONAS)

The National Monument, or "Monas" as it is popularly called, is one of the monuments built during the Sukarno era of fierce nationalism. The top of the National Monument (Monas) is Freedom Square. It stands for the people's determination to achieve freedom and the crowning of their efforts in the Proclamation of Independence in August 1945. The 137-meter tall marble obelisk is topped with a flame coated with 35 kg of gold. The base houses a historical museum and a hall for meditations. The monument is open to the public and upon request the lift can carry visitors to the top, which offers a bird's eye view on the city and the sea.

Places around Ipoh, perak, malaysia (my Home town)

Ipoh town hall

It was designed by a British government architect named A. B. Hubback to reflect a Neo-Renaissance Victorian theme with colossal Greek and Roman columns. The Town Hall was built in 1914 and was completed two years later. Throughout the years, the building had been used as a post and telegraph office, as well as the district police headquarters. Apart from that, the building had hosted a number of important events.Throughout the century, the Town Hall have seen many people from various backgrounds and expertise utilising, and walking up and down, its hallways. The Indian poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore once addressed a meeting of Perak's English and vernacular school teachers here in the late 1930s. The Malay Nationalist Party, the first political party formed in Malaya, held its inaugural congress in the Ipoh Town Hall from November 30 to December 3, 1945, attended by more than 300 people from all over Malaya.

Ipoh railway station
The Ipoh Railway Station was designed by the Government Architect, A. B. Hubback, with classical elements harnessed to the British "Raj" style, surmounted by Moorish domes and turrets. Hubback was also the architect for the ornate Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, completed in 1911, after working on the final stages of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building designed by R. A. J. Bidwell.

A traveller from Medan, Sumatra, who visited Ipoh in the 1920s called the Ipoh Railway Station "number two" after the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. According to another description, "The size and magnificence of the Railway Station, with its first class hotel accommodation on the upper floor, gives the stranger a hint as to the wealth and importance of the town of Ipoh".
